Newsom signs climate measures during Bay Area visit

VALLEJO, Calif. (KGO) -- California Governor Gavin Newsom traveled to Vallejo on Friday morning to sign six of some 40 bills recently passed by the legislature that he says will usher in a new era of world-leading climate action.

He says the bills will create four million new jobs, reduce oil use in the state by 91%, and accelerate the transition to clean energy.

According to Newsom, the package complements a $54 billion investment in climate-action already included in this year's budget.

California will spend the money on a variety of climate programs - from public transit to wildfire programs and more.
