HAYWARD, Calif. (KGO) -- Treeview Little League in Hayward is out thousands of dollars after their clubhouse was broken into and vandalized early Friday morning.

President Maria Hartin-Swart said about $15,000 worth of equipment was stolen, including new practice and player equipment, their PA system and snack bar items they use for fundraising, even their commercial grade popcorn machine.

"I'd have to say it's super disappointing, heartbreaking," she said.

Surveillance video shows the thieves with the items in a cart leaving the clubhouse at the fields near Conley-Caraballo High School in Hayward. At least one of them wore a mask.

The baseball season is starting in about a month and the community is coming together to try to help the team, donating more than 5-thousand dollars on their Gofundme.

"I am thankful for the baseball community," Hartin-Swart said. "It's small, but it is mighty. I'm thankful for that."

Unfortunately, the team had a break-in at their clubhouse during the COVID-19 pandemic. They padlocked doors then and now they had to change their locks again.

"I wish kids weren't the target," Hartin-Swart said. "I really wish it was different in this day and age. I don't know that they when people steal things from a little league, I don't think they understand the magnitude of what that does to a nonprofit, a completely volunteer organization. Just across the board, I don't think people understand the magnitude of that."

The Hayward Police Department said they are investigating the break- in. They are asking anybody with information to reach out to their tip line at 510-293-7176.
