SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- A 1-year-old boy died after he was hit by a car in San Francisco's Hayes Valley on Sunday.
It happened on Hayes and Webster streets just before 11 a.m.
Police say an investigation found a vehicle that was driven by a person known to the child was backing out of a residential garage when they struck the boy in the driveway.
The child was taken to a hospital, where he died.
The driver of the SUV involved remained on scene and cooperated with the investigation.
This tragic incident appears to be isolated, there was no risk to the public, and there is no evidence of criminal action," SFPD said in a statement.
