
OAKLAND, Calif. -- A man suspected of shooting at cars Thursday afternoon on eastbound Highway 24 in Oakland was arrested after he crashed his vehicle in Walnut Creek, according to the California Highway Patrol.
No one was injured in the shooting, which was reported about 3:45 p.m. on the highway, west of Old Tunnel Road.
After a car was hit by gunfire from a passing vehicle, 911 callers gave authorities a description of the suspect's vehicle as it continued on eastbound Highway 24 into Contra Costa County, the CHP said.

Shortly after 4 p.m., the suspect's vehicle crashed into a center divide on Interstate Highway 680 near Olympic Boulevard in Walnut Creek. The suspect was detained there without incident, according to the CHP.
Authorities initially believed that three vehicles had been hit by gunfire, but later revised it to two.
The suspect's name wasn't released and information about a motive wasn't available. The CHP is investigating the shooting.
All lanes of eastbound Highway 24 at Highway 13 were closed about 4:33 p.m. and traffic was diverted to southbound Highway 13. The freeway reopened shortly after 7 p.m.
