Bay Area to endure 2-week warm spell with potential record highs
The San Francisco Bay Area is about to endure a two-week warm spell, with temperatures running 10 to 20 degrees above average.

SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- Temperatures are expected to climb significantly this weekend across the Bay Area, bringing a major heat risk to inland areas.

ABC7 Eyewitness News meteorologist Drew Tuma says high temperatures will run 10 to 20 degrees above average, with some locations potentially reaching record highs. A heat advisory has been issued for the entire weekend, with forecast highs ranging from 90 to 103 degrees.

The expected heat poses a significant health concern. Heat is the leading weather-related cause of death, exceeding fatalities linked to thunderstorms, flooding and tornadoes.

The prolonged stretch of hot weather is also expected to continue beyond the weekend. Tuma says the warm spell will persist for the next two weeks.

Residents are urged to prepare for extended periods of hot weather as temperatures remain well above seasonal norms through the first half of October.
