Bay Area parks rank among California's best, according to new statewide poll

SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- Several state parks in the Bay Area are being recognized as some of the best in California, according to a new poll by the State Parks Foundation.

The foundation asked 2,000 people to nominate their favorite state parks across the state, highlighting destinations known for scenery, recreation and visitor experience.

Mount Tamalpais State Park received top marks for having the most spectacular views, according to voters. Angel Island ranked highest for family-friendly experiences, while Half Moon Bay earned recognition as the best location for beaches.

Big Basin Redwoods State Park was named the top pick for hiking, standing out among respondents for its outdoor trails and natural surroundings.

The poll also identified Big Sur as the best destination for camping. Visitors praised the park's mix of forest, waterfalls and coastal scenery all in one place.

The results point to the Bay Area's strong presence among California's most popular state park destinations, as nominated by voters from across the state.
