Big rig crashes 40 feet down embankment in Sunol off Niles Canyon Road

SUNOL, Calif. (KGO) -- A big rig veered off Niles Canyon Road in Sunol and went 40 feet down an embankment on Tuesday afternoon.

SKY7 shows the damage.

The cab of that truck is teetering dangerously close to Alameda Creek.

The CHP says the driver lost control of the big rig, but amazingly was not seriously hurt.

Niles Canyon Road is closed between Mission Boulevard and Main Street.

Crews are bringing in a heavy-duty tow truck to move the big rig.
