Fairfield police give update on disappearance of Chantel Brooks

FAIRFIELD, Calif. (KGO) -- Fairfield police on Monday provided an update on the search for Chantel Brooks, who has been missing for nearly 40 days.

Police said Brooks was last seen on surveillance footage leaving a CVS store in Fairfield at 1:45 a.m. July 17.

Since her disappearance, investigators have conducted dozens of ground, drone and digital device searches. Family members have also carried out their own search efforts to help locate Brooks.

Brooks' brother Kevin Robinson described the family's continued efforts to find her.

"She just recently had a birthday; we had a birthday party for her. We held a candlelight vigil for her since they have candlelight vigil for missing persons. The whole family wore yellow. We've just been doing everything we can. Every day we're in another city either searching or putting up fliers. We're just putting our foot to the ground because we know the police can't do everything or be everywhere at once," Robinson said.

Police said Brooks' 2021 black Infiniti SUV is also missing.

Investigators suspect foul play in the case but have not identified a suspect. The search for Brooks remains ongoing.
