SAN MATEO, Calif. (KGO) -- A San Francisco federal judge denied San Mateo County Sheriff Christina Corpus' request on Wednesday to block a voter-approved removal process as she fights to keep her job.

Earlier this year, voters approved a measure allowing the Board of Supervisors to remove her from office amid a slew of misconduct charges.

San Mateo Co. Sheriff Christina Corpus made one last push to put the efforts to fire her on hold until a Civil Grand Jury can hear the case.

Corpus claimed it is illegal and violated her rights.

The judge ruled Wednesday the court is skeptical that Corpus will be able to prevail that the removal claim violates her federal rights.
