SAN JOSE, Calif. -- San Jose firefighters battled a three-alarm fire early Monday morning at a Buddhist temple that was heavily damaged in a 2024 blaze, fire officials said.
Crews were dispatched at about 5:37 a.m. Monday to the 90 block of Foss Avenue, where a fire broke out at Chua Duyen Giac, a large, two-story mixed-use Buddhist temple, according to the San Jose Fire Department.
No one was inside the structure at the time of the blaze, and there were no immediate reports of injuries. A partial roof collapse was reported by fire crews.
Traffic was closed along Foss Avenue as firefighters worked at the scene. The public was urged to avoid the area while emergency crews continued operations in the area.
A three-alarm blaze also hit the same temple on May 13, 2024, displacing people and leaving the building badly damaged. A person was transported to the hospital for smoke inhalation during the fire.
