SAN LEANDRO, Calif. (KGO) -- A deadly shooting on Monday involving Alameda County Sheriff's Office deputies is being independently investigated by the California Department of Justice, according to the office of State Attorney General Rob Bonta.
The shooting happened just before 3:20 a.m. on Selborne Dr. in the Fairmont Terrace neighborhood of San Leandro.
The Alameda County Sheriff's Office said they received a call from a man with a firearm, and "expressed his intent to harm others," and wanted to talk with law enforcement.
When deputies arrived, the man left his home, and during the incident, "presented an imminent threat," according to the sheriff's officials. Two deputies shot the man, and he died at the scene.

The deputies were not injured.
Bonta's office says it is being investigated under Assembly Bill 1506, which indicates the person who was shot was not armed.
Sheriff's officials did not clarify what that "imminent threat" was.
Adelfa Hegarty, a neighbor, says she was awake at the time and heard a strange noise.
"This morning I thought everything would be cleared out and was really surprised to see everything was taped off, and saddened as well," said Hegarty.
AB 1506 was enacted in 2021 and requires the state Department of Justice to investigate any shooting involving law enforcement in California that results in the death of an unarmed civilian.
The man has not been identified.
In accordance with Alameda County Sheriff's Office policy, the involved deputies were placed on paid administrative leave.
