"Twinless" follows two men who meet in a twin bereavement support group and form an intense bond.

Writer and director James Sweeney is taking viewers on a wild ride in his new movie "Twinless," where he also co-stars alongside Dylan O'Brien.
"Twinless" is a dark comedy following two men who meet in a twin bereavement support group and form an intense bond. The film originally premiered at Sundance Film Festival earlier this year, where On The Red Carpet caught up with O'Brien.
"I think his (Sweeney's) first draft of this was eight years ago, and yeah. There were a lot of moments where we didn't think that this was going to happen for us. So, it's really cool that it finally came together, and it's cool to have it recognized like this," he said.
At the film festival, "Twinless" won the Audience Award in the U.S. Dramatic Competition, and O'Brien won the U.S. Dramatic Special Jury Award for Acting.
Sweeney had this to say about his co-star's achievements. "He's (O'Brien) just a phenomenal actor, and I'm so excited for people to see him in this role. I think it's a different side of him."
Not only did "Twinless" win big at Sundance, Sweeney was also named one of Variety's 10 Directors to Watch this year.
"He's a real filmmaker, man," O'Brien told us. "He thinks of every stitch of what's on screen. He's involved in every aspect of the process. So to work with anybody who... And a great person too, which is extremely helpful, and that all ties into really the excitement surrounding this moment for him."
When it comes to watching the film, Sweeney shared, "I think it's best to not know anything, go in blind. That's my favorite way to watch a movie, to be surprised by something."
The film also stars Lauren Graham, Aisling Franciosi, Tasha Smith and Chris Perfetti.
"Twinless" hits theaters September 5.
