WICHITA, Kan. -- A former TV news anchor has been sentenced to life in prison for stabbing her mother to death on Halloween.
Angelynn Mock pleaded guilty in August to murdering 80-year-old Anita Avers.
Judge Jeffrey Goering sentenced her on Monday to life with parole eligibility after 25 years.
Almost exactly a year after Mock stabbed her mother 12 times in her bed in their Wichita home she learned her fate.
The 80-year-old died at the hospital. She was a marriage and family therapist.

Court documents show Mock believed her mother was the devil and she had to kill her.
Mock's stepsister and Avers' stepdaughter, Sonja Kreutziger spoke directly to the court.
"My husband and I helped dad clean up the mess the next day," Kreutziger said. "I scrubbed blood off the floors, walls, and curtains, my husband and a friend of the family removed the mattress and a bedroom carpet."
"By god's grace, we were able to remove the ugliness of the act to give daddy's house back. However, there is nothing that can bring back the home that it was. There is no way to make sense of what happened that morning," she said.
Court documents show Mock's stepfather, Avers' husband, told investigators she had been diagnosed with schizoaffective disorders suffering from delusions.
Mock said she would not appeal.
