"Life begins in the golden years," said Susie.

"I spent the last 13 years diffusing bombs for a living, so Mel doesn't scare me," said Peg.

Owens, a former pro football player, was announced back in April to be the Golden Bachelor.

He's 66, a divorced father of two and became a successful lawyer after retiring from the NFL. He's originally from Michigan but lives in Orange County, CA.

This sophomore season could end up being the most dramatic "Golden Bachelor" ever!

Earlier this summer, Owens made headlines for his controversial comments on a football podcast about wanting the women on his season to be aged 45-60. Owens revealed to Glamour that he apologized to the women on his first night of filming, saying "You have to be earnest in your work to get the trust back. Everybody there is smart, and they can see through you if you're lying or you don't mean what you say."

Kathy Swarts, who was on Gerry Turner's season of "The Golden Bachelor," recently told "Playing The Field: A Bachelor Podcast" she believes Mel's season will be a good one.

"He's in for a great experience with fabulous women," Swarts said. "The women that'll be there will be smart, beautiful, strong, energetic, I think that's exactly what he needs."

"The Golden Bachelor" premieres September 24 on ABC and streams the next day on Hulu and Hulu on Disney+.
