SAN MATEO COUNTY, Calif. (KGO) -- A California Highway Patrol officer is recovering with major, non-life-threatening injuries after a car crashed into their motorcycle on Interstate 280 in San Mateo County on Monday.
The crash happened just south of Alpine Road around 2:15 p.m., the CHP said.
Several lanes were shut down in the area.
SKY7 video showed the CHP motorcycle tipped over.
The CHP said a CHP officer responded to a report of an electric leaf blower between two lanes, south of Page Mill Road, and initiated a traffic break.
As lanes were closed, the officer turned on their emergency lights before a driver in a 2026 Tesla Model Y crashed into the officer.
The officer was ejected from the motorcycle.
The driver of the Tesla remained on scene and is cooperating with investigators, the CHP said.
Investigators are now looking into whether the driver was using Tesla driver assistance during the crash.
Several southbound lanes of I-280 were shut down for hours.
