Illegal base jumping seen at Yosemite National Park amid government shutdown

YOSEMITE NATIONAL PARK, Calif. -- Visitors to Yosemite National Park have been witness to daring, dangerous and illegal stunts in the sky during staffing shortages due to the government shutdown.

A trail-runner and climber shared video showing base jumpers parachuting off the peak of El Capitan over the last week.

He saw more than eight people seeking scary thrills.

Base jumping is not allowed in national parks due to policies against airborne activities.

The Park Service has said the activity poses a "significant safety risk."
