Car fire shuts down eastbound I-580 in Livermore, causing massive backup

LIVERMORE, Calif. (KGO) -- Several lanes of eastbound I-580 in Livermore are shut down due to a car fire near the First Street off-ramp.

SKY7 is over the incident, which shows a massive backup as the evening rush hour commute gets underway.

This follows a crash that sparked a grass fire earlier in the day on eastbound I-580 at the I-205 split.

Crews quickly knocked down the fire, but the freeway was closed for several hours.
