SAN FRANCISCO -- San Francisco Lowrider Council founder and President Roberto Y. Hernandez is getting ready for this year's "King of the Streets" event.
"We're going to doing something very special. We're making history," Hernandez explains, "we are going to have a lowrider parade on Mission Street with over 500 lowriders. It's a parade that'll be the first parade in the world."
As part of the celebration, Hernandez wanted to integrate local businesses in this historic event.
"We have every business on Mission Street and 24th is going to have a special just for you to come and shop and dine," Hernandez reveals.
And then, in the middle of the night, a one-of-a-kind idea came to him.

"About 3:30 in the morning on a Tuesday, I woke up and I thought about creating a lowrider taco and there's no such thing, " Hernadez says, "so here in San Francisco in the Mission, we're giving birth to the first lowrider taco."
Hernandez started dreaming up ingredients and envisioning the perfect concept. He reached out to Miquel from La Corneta Taqueria to help make his vision a reality,
"They do a whole menu. I think one of the biggest menus when it comes to not only tacos and burritos, but Mexican plates, that's just delicious, " Hernandez explains
The two sat down for a very successful creative collaboration.
"He came up with the tortilla concept of using two tortillas, a soft tortilla on the bottom, and then a "dorado" one with melted cheese on it," Hernandaz recalls, " And then you add on the carne in there that's marinated in a special sauce with a couple special surprises and then a little bit of pineapple on the top to give it a sweet flavor."

Hernadez vividly remembers the first time he tried the taco.
"My heart was smiling. I was full of joy," Hernadez shares,' I ate it very slow. just to savor the taste."
Hernandez is excited to have the community enjoy the tasty taco as well.
"It's something different. Not your normal stuff that you get here on Mission Street in the Mission District," Hernadez declares.
