Marvel's 'Eyes of Wakanda' brings epic battles to Disney+

SAN DIEGO -- Get ready to travel across the globe and through time with "Eyes of Wakanda," Marvel Animation's thrilling new series.

The action-adventure show follows elite Wakandan warriors on high-stakes missions throughout history as they track down stolen Vibranium artifacts from enemies of the kingdom. Think espionage, ancient legends and historical moments brought to life through animation.

Among the show's stars is Jona Xiao, who will voice the first-ever female Iron Fist.

On The Red Carpet caught up with her at San Diego Comic-Con where she was able to talk about her role publicly for the first time.

"What's amazing is you get to see how legends are made," Xiao said. "The Hatut Zeraze are like the Wakandan CIA. So, there's mystery, there's intrigue. I think fans are going to love the elements pulled from the canon-and the fact that they're making Iron Fist female. I'm so excited to play the first female Iron Fist."

The series also stars Danai Gurira returning as Dora Milaje guard Okeye as well as Anika Noni Rose, Cress Williams, Lyn Whitfield, Gary Anthony Williams, Steve Toussaint, Zeke Alton and Winnie Harlow.

Marvel's "Eyes of Wakanda" premieres Aug. 1 on Disney+, featuring action-packed missions, Wakandan legends, and the first female Iron Fist.

"Eyes of Wakanda" streams exclusively on Disney+ starting August 1.

The Walt Disney Company is the parent company of Disney+ and this ABC station.
