Mysterious purple egg appears outside Chase Center, Valkyries say

SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- The Golden State Valkyries have been getting a lot of attention during their inaugural season, and now something unusual has popped up outside Chase Center.

Intrigue is building over the violet colored egg that someone, or something, laid right in the center of Thrive City.

"It's amazing, it just showed up and the violet color, there's something is going on here that's above and beyond," wildlife expert Kenny Elvin said.

Being tongue-in-cheek, the Golden State Valkyries and Chase Center said they're "baffled" by the unexpected discovery.

So they brought in Elvin, who says this is one of the largest eggs he's seen.

"This is a very large egg. An ostrich egg is probably 10 inches at best, eight inches. This is five feet," Elvin said.

After spending the morning giving the egg a thorough examination, Elvin said what's inside the egg could be quite a revelation.

"I've looked at it, I've smelled it, I've listened to it. It definitely has a heartbeat. It could hatch. It could hatch," he said.

There are some indications that what hatches from the egg could be quite the revelation.

The Valkyries and Chase Center say they are going to move the egg inside later Thursday afternoon to monitor it.
