SAN FRANCISCO -- PG&E is warning that more than 11,000 customers in the North and East Bay may see power shutoffs between Wednesday evening and Saturday because of a forecast of dry and windy weather that poses a high wildfire risk.

The power outages, which PG&E calls Public Safety Power Shutoffs, are expected to affect about 70,000 customers in 29 counties across the utility's service range. In the Bay Area that includes an estimated 4,705 in Alameda County, 1,605 in Contra Costa County, 3,027 in Napa County, 30 in Solano County, and 1,783 in Sonoma County.

PG&E spokesperson Tamar Sarkissian said about 4,000 customers who were affected by power shutoffs earlier in the week may also be affected.

Sarkissian said PG&E expects offshore Diablo winds to peak Thursday across the northern and central Sierra Nevada and in portions of the North Bay and East Bay.

Customers started receiving notifications on Monday about the potential shutoff, she said.

People can visit pge.com/pspsupdates to find out if their location may be affected by the power shutoffs.

Sarkissian said PG&E will share more information soon on community resource centers that will be set up in areas where the power has been shut off. Each center will have Wi-Fi, device charging, restrooms, snacks and other supplies.
