Burlingame community comes together after 4-year-old dies in car crash

BURLINGAME, Calif. (KGO) -- The city of Burlingame is coming together to find a little joy in light of a recent tragedy.

Local businesses are partnering up for an ice cream giveaway this weekend at Preston's Candy.

They wanted to give back and do something uplifting for the community, still dealing with last week's deadly crash.

Ayden Fang, 4, was killed and a 6-year-old were injured on the sidewalk by a car that jumped the curb and crashed into a restaurant in what is being described as a "chain reaction" crash also involving an e-bike.

"When the community has great times, the community comes together, and we celebrate that. When we have hard times, such as the tragedy over on Burlingame Ave., we just want to put some smiles and lift some spirits," said Geno Caccia, Home Services CEO.

Business leaders say the time was right for Burlingame to share a positive moment together.

Organizers say all ages are welcome.

Burlingame community members set up a GoFundMe for Ayden Fang to help his family with counseling costs.
