SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- Fleet Week is back in San Francisco, but this year's celebration is noticeably scaled down.
With a government shutdown still in effect, some of the event's most iconic military moments, including the Blue Angels and U.S. Navy ship tours are missing from the lineup.
But despite the changes, Fleet Week is not cancelled altogether.
The U.S. Navy confirmed overnight that they won't be participating because of the government shutdown.

But other militaries are participating, and Wednesday was the official kickoff.
The Colombian Navy's tall ship ARC Gloria, a 250 foot three-masted ship, docked at Pier 15/17 around 8:30 a.m.
Also, still happening this week will be the much anticipated air show.
Though, it will feature the Royal Canadian Air Force Snowbirds Demonstration Team along with the Patriots Jet Team instead of the Navy's Blue Angels.

There are also going to be visiting ships and sailors from Canada and Colombia.
On Wednesday, Mayor Daniel Lurie spoke at the kickoff alongside representatives from both of those countries.
He said that even during this government shutdown, the spirit of fleet week is alive in the city.
"The skies over the Bay Area will still be filled with air shows and our neighborhoods will be alive with celebration and pride," Mayor Lurie said.

Also canceled was the community concert set to happen Wednesday.
Some concerts scheduled for Thursday are still going on as planned.

As for that Colombian tall ship the ARC Gloria that docked Wednesday morning, it will be here for the next several days.
