That's when someone drove up to them, got out of their car, and started some sort of altercation with the couple.
At some point, the suspect pulled out a gun, shot the woman and drove away.
The woman died on the way to the hospital but the boyfriend and dogs were unharmed.
Surveillance video from a bike shop in the intersection of 14th and Williams Streets captured part of the terrifying attack.

The couple is seen trying to run and cross the street. The woman falls to the ground, and her boyfriend runs back to help her.
Their dogs surround them. In the back corner, you can see a person running to a white vehicle parked across the street and driving off and the boyfriend trying to stop the vehicle.
He was unharmed.
"I couldn't believe that it was so close to home," said Sheila Massey, San Leandro resident. "Just walking her dogs innocently. Just terrible, terrible."

San Leandro Police confirmed a 21-year-old was arrested by Dublin police just before midnight Thursday in possession of a firearm and matching the description of the suspect and his car.
"We don't have any information in terms of motives that we are ready to release," said San Leandro Police Lieutenant Abe Tang.
In a statement, the police department said the suspect parked his car near the couple as they were walking their dogs adding, "The suspect exited the vehicle and accosted the couple. After a brief interaction, the suspect drew a firearm and shot the victim once in the torso. The suspect then got back into his car and fled the scene."
"I'm scared. I'm kind of panicking like you can't even go for a walk now," said Dulce Macias, San Leandro resident. "More security at night probably. I don't know that it's going to help."
This case now goes to the Alameda County District Attorney's office for prosecution.
San Leandro police say this incident is not related to last month's deadly shooting that also involved someone walking their dogs.
