11-year-old killed in hit-and-run involving school bus in New York City, police say

NEW YORK CITY -- A child has died after being struck by a school bus in a hit-and-run crash in New York City, police said.

The 11-year-old girl who was attempting to cross the street was hit by a school bus that did not stop just after 3 p.m. on Thursday in in Bath Beach, Brooklyn.

The child was transported to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead, police said.

The driver of the school bus did not remain on the scene but was located in another part of Brooklyn, police said.

Police said the driver may not have known the girl was struck, but is continuing an investigation.
