Scrubs Season 2: Zach Braff, Donald Faison and Sarah Chalke preview new storylines
Season 2 sees one intern bumped up to series regular
"Scrubs" is back for season two and it's bringing its signature humor and heart.
The revival of the hit series picks up where season one left off, with J.D., Turk and Elliot helping their mentor, Dr. Cox with his autoimmune disease.
"It definitely makes us all unsure about our decisions, you know," Donald Faison, who plays Turk, told On The Red Carpet's Rocsi Diaz. "For the three of us, especially Zach's character J.D., it becomes a mission to still be a good doctor."
While J.D. is taking care of his mentor, he's also taken an intern under his own wing.
"Dr. Cox tells him early in the season, I want you to pass down the knowledge that I gave to you," Braff explained. "For comedy's sake the guy that he chooses doesn't really want to be mentored by J.D.! We didn't wanna pick someone who was like J.D. We wanted to pick someone who was almost funnily enough like Dr. Cox."
Sarah Chalke said viewers will see significant developments for her character, Elliot.
"I don't want to spoil it, but there's this moment where she finds herself and finds her voice and it comes out of that," she said. "It was really fun to play and it is my absolute favorite thing about 'Scrubs' is that like no two days are ever the same. Just when you've kind of got your character going on way, the writers will throw you a curve ball and you'll get to do something different."
Ava Bunn, who plays Tosh, knows this as well. She is now a series regular on the show and revealed some of the changes for her character.
"She's going to speak her mind a little more sometimes and then also withhold the truth when, you know, she's navigating the dynamics, and it's fun to see how she navigates all these different scenarios," Bunn said.
From new medical situations to romantic storylines, the cast says fans will have plenty to look forward to.
"Scrubs" season two airs Wednesdays on ABC and streams the next day on Hulu and Hulu on Disney+.
