

BERKELEY, Calif. (KGO) -- One person died in a crash Friday afternoon on Interstate 80 in Berkeley that caused major traffic backups in the area.
The crash occurred around 3:30 p.m. on westbound I-80 west of University Avenue. According to authorities, a pickup truck rear-ended an 18-wheeler.
Three westbound lanes of the freeway were blocked following the collision, and traffic was backed up into El Cerrito.
Traffic conditions continued to worsen Friday afternoon as crews worked at the scene. Authorities said it could take some time to clear the crash site.
At least one person was killed in the crash. Information on additional injuries was not immediately available.
The California Highway Patrol has been contacted for more information about possible injuries related to the collision.
