'Soulm8te' trailer teases a terrifying take on AI, love and obsession

LOS ANGELES -- Your Halloween watch list is getting a creepy upgrade with a little help from AI.
"Soulm8te" is a horror thriller about an android companion designed to love unconditionally. But when someone gets between them, that unconditional love takes a dangerous turn.
"Alien: Earth" star David Rysdahl joins Lily Sullivan and Claudia Doumit in the suspenseful story, which follows a grieving engineer who begins testing an AI companion.
As he works to make her truly sentient, their relationship quickly becomes more complicated — and much more sinister.
The new trailer offers a glimpse at just how intense that relationship becomes, with the android declaring, "They don't understand what we have."

Directed by Kate Dolan and produced by Blumhouse and Atomic Monster, "Soulm8te" is set to kick off this year's Huluween programming.
Huluween is Hulu's annual celebration of all things horror, bringing a lineup of spooky movies, series and specials to the streaming service all season long.
"Soulm8te" will be available to stream on Hulu and Hulu on Disney+ beginning Oct. 1.
