All the ways 'The Sound of Music' is celebrating its 60th anniversary

The hills are alive with a milestone for "The Sound of Music!"

The Rodgers & Hammerstein classic is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year with a newly restored and remastered version of the beloved movie courtesy of the Walt Disney Film Restoration team.

The film will be re-released in theaters in 4K from September 12-September 17 in more than 1000 cities across the country and around the world beginning September 20. Tickets are available HERE.

It'll also be released in 4K Ultra HD on digital and Blu-Ray on September 23.

"The Sound of Music" was released March 2, 1965, initially as a limited roadshow theatrical release. It won five Academy Awards as well as Two Golden Globe Awards. The soundtrack was #1 on the Billboard charts from November, 1965 and remained there until mid-January, 1968.
