Lucasfilm Animation reinvents its classic style in this new series set after the Clone Wars, streaming April 6 on Disney+

LOS ANGELES -- Once thought defeated, Maul returns in his own animated series, this time with a fresh look and a dangerous new goal!
In "Star Wars: Maul - Shadow Lord," the fan-favorite character resurfaces with a new plan: rebuild his criminal syndicate on a remote planet untouched by the Empire.
Set after the events of "Star Wars: The Clone Wars," the series dives deeper into Maul's shadowy rise to power.
Lucasfilm Animation reinvents its signature style for the series, blending classic filmmaking techniques with a striking brushstroke-on-glass aesthetic that gives the story a darker edge.
The trailer teases a galaxy packed with action, featuring lightsaber-wielding warriors, Force users, bounty hunters, and a quick glimpse of Mandalorians.
It also hints at the return of a villain last seen in "Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi" who went up against Ahsoka Tano.
Another character, Marrok, first seen in the Disney+ series "Ahsoka," also makes a return, joining the fray alongside Maul.
The footage closes with Maul unleashing a deadly lightsaber move as the unmistakable notes of "Duel of the Fates" echo in the background.
Sam Witwer returns to voice Maul, joined by Gideon Adlon as Devon Izara, Oscar nominee Wagner Moura as Brander Lawson, Richard Ayoade as Two-Boots and Steve Blum as Icarus.
On The Red Carpet spoke with Witwer at Star Wars Celebration Japan, where he teased what fans can expect from the series and reflected on portraying Maul for more than 15 years.
The first two episodes premiere April 6 on Disney+, with weekly releases and the final two debuting May 4 — the ultimate Star Wars holiday.
The Walt Disney Company is the parent company of Lucasfilm, Disney+ and this ABC station.
