It may take months to find suspects in Stockton mass shooting: Sheriff

STOCKTON, Calif. (KGO) -- The San Joaquin County Sheriff is asking for patience in the investigation into the deadly mass shooting at a child's birthday party in Stockton.

Sheriff Patrick Withrow says it could be weeks or months before any suspects are identified in the shooting that killed four people, including three children.

Over 10 others were injured, and the victims killed were ages 8, 9, 14, and 21.

At this point, the only thing authorities will say about the suspects is that they were dressed in all black and their faces were covered. They can't say if the shooting was gang-related.

"We know that there were known gang members at this birthday party, but we do not know whether that was the reason or the motive of this shooting, so we're going to take our time and gather all our information and process it," Sheriff Withrow said.

The sheriff says more than 50 casings were found at the scene, fired from at least five different weapons.

The reward for information in the case is now more than $130,000.

The sheriff continued to encourage people to provide information and tips, and that they will remain anonymous.
