A kitten wandering along a platform in a New York City subway station hitched a ride on Thursday, July 24, and ended up getting adopted by a commuter.
Footage recorded by Shaquantae McGee, also known as Curtis Pocahontae (@Pocahontae), shows the adorable kitty walking along the platform at the 110th Street station, the source told Storyful, before hopping onto a train car.
"I was on an NYC subway when a kitten unexpectedly walked onto the train alone. The video captures the kitten exploring the car, and ends with a stranger stepping in to safely remove the cat," McGee said.
"The woman got off at the next stop with the cat," according to McGee. "Everyone was in shock and panic."
In an update posted to TikTok, the woman who carried the kitten off the train car, Betsaida Mercado, announced she decided to adopt the kitten.
"This is Emmie, short for the MTA" - the agency that owns the New York City subway. "She's like four or five weeks. She's going to the vet tomorrow," the kitten's new owner said.
"I've never had a cat before, but she's so precious. I love her," Mercado said on TikTok.
