Surfer bitten by shark at Sonoma County beach, authorities say

SONOMA COUNTY, Calif. (KGO) -- A surfer is recovering after being bitten by a shark at North Salmon Creek Beach in Sonoma County Friday morning, according to authorities.

The Sonoma County Sheriff's Office posted on Facebook that the surfer was bitten on the hand and was able to get out of the water before fire crews arrived.

Officials say the surfer declined medical treatment at the scene and transported themselves to the hospital.
