Suspected car burglar arrested in Alameda after attempting to escape police via paddleboard

ALAMEDA, Calif. (KGO) -- A suspected car burglar tried to outrun Alameda police Friday afternoon by jumping on a paddleboard and crossing the Oakland Estuary.

He got pretty far, but then an Alameda fire boat swooped in, and the suspect gave up.

Once they got him to shore, he was arrested.

Alameda police say they found the suspect's vehicle and stolen items inside.
