Truck crash sparks fire at CaliBunga Water Park in San Jose, authorities say

SAN JOSE, Calif. -- Crews in San Jose responded to a tier 1 vegetation fire that broke out at Calibunga Water Park in Lake Cunningham Park on Saturday.

The fire was first reported just before 5 p.m. when a pickup truck crashed into a fence, caught fire, and flames spread to nearby vegetation, according to the San Jose Fire Department.

Firefighters asked the public to avoid the area as crews worked to contain the fire.

Video shared by the fire department showed one of CaliBunga's waterslides engulfed in flames.

As of 6 p.m., the fire was contained to the northwest corner of the park.

CaliBunga, formerly known as Raging Waters, was recently closed by the city for renovations.
