Waymo car drives into active fire scene in Hollywood

HOLLYWOOD, LOS ANGELES -- A Waymo ride in Hollywood took a wrong turn on Melrose Avenue, straight into an active fire scene overnight.

The autonomous car drove past road flares and into an area near Van Ness, where the Los Angeles Fire Department had blocked the street.

It appears the Waymo had at least one passenger in the backseat.

Witnesses say the car stayed inside the closure for about 10 minutes before it made a U-turn and drove away.
