At least 1 killed in car crash on San Mateo Bridge, CHP says

SAN MATEO, Calif. (KGO) -- All westbound lanes of the San Mateo Bridge reopened just before 8 p.m. following a deadly car crash on Tuesday, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Authorities say two cars were involved in the crash between a Rooter Hero van and sedan just before 3 p.m. on Highway 92.

The CHP said the passenger of the van was taken to Stanford Hospital, but the extent of their injuries is unknown. The van's driver is okay.

But the driver of the sedan died at the scene. Their identity has not been revealed by the coroner.

Drivers were instructed by the CHP to turn around and drive in the opposite direction of the westbound lanes.
