Woman dies in hit-and-run crash in San Jose, police say

SAN JOSE, Calif -- A pedestrian in San Jose was struck and killed Saturday morning by a vehicle that fled the scene at North Capitol Avenue and Longford Drive, according to the San Jose Department.

The woman was hit at about 6:20 a.m. She died after being taken to a hospital.

San Jose police remained on the scene as of about 8:15 a.m.

North Capitol Avenue was expected to be closed from Longford Drive to Camino Del Rey for several hours. Drivers were asked to avoid the area.
