LAKE TAHOE, Calif. (KGO) -- The 2021 Lake Tahoe ski season is off to a decent start with significant October snow, but when will you actually be able to hit the slopes?

Here's a list of when all the major ski resorts in the Lake Tahoe area are planning to start operations for the 2021-2022 ski season (all dates are weather permitting):

  • Boreal Mountain Resort - Opened Friday, October 29.

  • Palisades Tahoe & Alpine Meadows - Opened Friday, October 29 for weekends only. It has reopened seven days a week but in the beginners terrain only.

  • Heavenly Mountain Resort - Opening Saturday, December 11, according to their website.

  • Homewood Mountain Resort - Still currently closed, but according to their website
    • they are watching forecast conditions.

  • Northstar California Resort - Opening Sunday, December 12.

    Homeowners in the Tahoe area are using their doorbell cameras and security cameras remotely to see if their houses survived.

  • Sugar Bowl - Still currently closed, according to their website.

    • Updated: December 10, 2021

  • Sierra at Tahoe - Opening as soon conditions permit. The Resort is still evaluating 2021 operations as a result of the Caldor Fire.
