Jonathan Taylor Thomas arrested, accused of kicking deputy during California traffic stop

CALIFORNIA -- Former child actor Jonathan Taylor Thomas was arrested in California on Monday, according to authorities.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said deputies spotted a vehicle stopped at the intersection of Westlake Boulevard and Townsgate Road, blocking traffic at a green light.

Deputies pulled alongside the vehicle to see if the driver needed assistance, and that's when they noticed that the driver appeared to be intoxicated.

While deputies performed field sobriety tests on the driver, the sheriff's department says the passenger of the vehicle -- identified as the "Home Improvement" star, whose legal name is Jonathan Taylor Thomas Weiss -- kept disrupting them.

Authorities said Weiss "appeared intoxicated, continually exited the vehicle and approached the deputies, distracting them from their investigation."

Deputies then attempted to detain Weiss for obstruction and public intoxication, at which point Weiss reportedly kicked a deputy in the stomach.

The former child star was then arrested and booked at the Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff’s Station.

The driver was also arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol.

So far, no charges have been filed. The sheriff's department said the case will be submitted to the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office for filing consideration.
