In the North Bay, sizzling temperatures didn't stop beer lovers from being the first in line to taste this year's offering of the famous Pliny the Younger triple IPA.
According to an admission ticket, the event offered alcohol tastings and taco samples from over 30 vendors. However, some attendees say it wasn't anywhere close to that.
Anchor Brewing will have a new owner almost a year after the legendary San Francisco brewery abruptly went out of business.
"Did the best that we could for as long as we could," said the owner of Camino Brewing Co., shutting down after a six-year run. He's now asking people to support their local breweries so they don't see the same fate.
"In February 2005, we released our very first 20-barrel batch of Pliny the Younger, we never expected it would be here 20 years later welcoming people from all over the world," said Russian River Brewing Company owner Natalie Cilurzo.
Popular East Bay brewery Drake's pulled out of Oakland Fans' Fest just a few days prior to the event, but the fan-led celebration will go on with the help of other local vendors.
