A freight train derailed Thursday in Connecticut, sending cars carrying flammable liquid propane into the water, though officials say they don't appear to be leaking.
"They're all scientists, they're sitting up here telling us nothing is wrong," one resident said in a heated exchange with Mayor Trent Conaway. "I want you to tell me why everyone in my community is getting sick!"
Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine said 4,832 cubic yards of soil have been removed from the ground in East Palestine and about six truckloads were on the way to Michigan.
"They were doing nothing for you," Trump said, while claiming that the federal response was beefed up only in response to the announcement of his campaign trip, a claim the White House says is false.
Norfolk Southern repeatedly touted their financial commitment so far to the village, now at more than $5.6 million, they said, "with more to come."
"I make $14 an hour. Where am I supposed to go?" said Audrey DeSanzo, who lives about half a mile from the derailment with her two grade-school-age children. "I don't want to be here now with my kids."
