I know you are but what are we? Pee-wee look-alikes, that's what!

CONEY ISLAND, Brooklyn -- Coney Island had its first Pee-wee Herman universe look-alike contest, and it lived up to the billing.

Adam Rinn, artistic director at the arts organization Coney Island USA, co-produced the event with Sideshows by the Seashore performer Little Brooklyn. The duo was smitten with the zany turnout.

"We've seen quite a few Pee-wee's, I've seen a Pee-wee dog, a few Miss Yvonne's, one Captain Carl. I've seen a couple of flowers, bikers - it's just a celebration of the whole universe here," gushed Rinn. His co-producer says Coney Island is the perfect place for Pee-wee fans to assemble because the community, "celebrate(s) similar things, creativity, being unique, having a good time, staying forever young."

Contestants competed across three categories: Pee-wee movie characters, "Pee-wee's Playhouse" characters and Pee-wee himself. "It's nice being recognized, I'm usually walked all over," says Deanna Director while putting on her best Floory. "Pee-wee's Playhouse" characters Cool Cat, Dirty Dog, Penny and Reba the mail lady also made appearances.

It was a fateful Sunday for contestant Noah Steiner. He explains how he, "woke up about three hours ago, I went on Facebook and I saw that there was a Pee-wee Herman look-alike contest. And I happened to have this suit in my closet so I said 'it's meant to be. I have to come.'"
