Takeaway of the Day
Warm to hot weather blanketed the Bay Area again today. A shallow marine layer lingered near the coast and bay during the early morning, but warm sunshine prevailed by midday. Afternoon highs ranged from lower 70s at the coast to upper 80s near the bay to upper 90s and triple digits inland. A Heat Advisory remains in effect until 10 p.m. Thursday for the entire Bay Area away from the coastline. During this time, there is an increased risk of heat-related illnesses, so we should try to avoid prolonged exposure to the heat.
A Look Ahead
Our October heat wave will continue tomorrow and Thursday, with very little change in the high temperature range -- upper 80s to around 90 near the bay, and upper 90s to above 100 inland -- but a much cooler pattern will begin on Friday. The weekend will bring even further cooling, and it will finally begin to feel like fall around the Bay Area.
