AccuWeather Forecast: Cooling overnight as marina layer develops

Takeaway of the Day
An end-of-July warming trend began today and will continue into early August. We had sunny skies from coast to inland this afternoon, with high temperatures in the lower 60s at the coast, mid-to-upper 70s around the bay shoreline, and mid-90s inland. It will be breezy and mild in the early evening hours, followed by overnight cooling as the marine layer develops along the coastline. We also have a Beach Hazards Statement in effect through Saturday, as a southerly swell is generating rough surf and elevated wave heights. There is also the risk of dangerous rip currents and sneaker waves, so please exercise caution at beaches and all locations along the coastline.

A Look Ahead
Our current warming trend will continue at least into the weekend and possibly into early next week. The peak of warming will likely be Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, when highs will range from near 70 at the coast, to near 80 around the bay, to upper 90s to around 102 degrees in the warmest inland areas. This wave of heat increases the risk of heat-related illnesses and, of course, it means elevated fire concerns. Be careful, stay safe.
