Chris Alvarez | ABC7 KGO News Team
Chris Alvarez joined the KGO Sports team in August 2019 and is thrilled to return to San Francisco after stops in Palm Springs and Fresno.

A Fresno native and athlete at heart, Chris played basketball and baseball at Clovis West High School and college baseball at Fresno Pacific University.

After hanging up the baseball cleats, Chris began his TV career in Fresno at KMPH-TV. He graduated from Fresno State, earning a Bachelor's Degree in Mass Communication and Journalism with a Broadcast emphasis.

After college, Chris moved to San Francisco to work at Comcast SportsNet Bay Area. In his 3+ years, Chris covered the Bay Area's biggest sporting events and athletes, produced features and hosted web videos.

Then it was off to the Southern California desert in Palm Springs, where Chris served as the Sports Director at KESQ (ABC) and CBS Local 2.

After Palm Springs, it was back home to Fresno, where he joined our sister station KFSN-TV. In 4 years, Chris worked as a Sports Anchor/Reporter, Sports Director and Fill-In News Anchor. Some of the highlights included covering Fresno State Football's historic turnaround, Fresno State Basketball's NCAA berth in 2016 along with two World Series and the 2017 MLB All-Star Game.

When he isn't working or watching sports, Chris spends his free time working out, sharpening his DJ skills listening to music and looking to explore all the Bay Area has to offer.
