1 teen killed, 4 others injured in suspected DUI crash in Novato, police say

NOVATO, Calif. -- A teenager was killed and four others were injured in a solo vehicle collision in Novato early Saturday morning.

Novato police officers responded to the intersection of San Marin Drive and Simmons Lane at about 1 a.m. after receiving multiple calls about a collision.

All occupants of the vehicle were between the ages of 16-18 and were not from Novato, the Novato Police Department said on social media.

They were all taken to a hospital where one died from their injuries. The other passengers were said to be in critical or serious condition as of Saturday morning.

The 17-year-old driver was accused by the Novato Police Department of driving under the influence of alcohol.

Eastbound lanes of San Marin Drive were closed at Estado Way for several hours as the crash was investigated.
