Caldecott Tunnel bores to close overnight this week for maintenance work

ORINDA, Calif. (KGO) -- Caltrans is warning East Bay commuters about upcoming overnight closures of the Caldecott Tunnel this week.

Bores 1, 2, and 4 will be closed on Highway 24, Monday through Thursday, from 10 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. the next morning.

Only one bore will be closed at a time, with the other tunnels remaining open to traffic.

Caltrans says the closures are needed for cable relocation, tunnel washing, and routine maintenance.

Here's the schedule:

• Monday night, eastbound Bore #1 will close


• Tuesday night, eastbound Bore #2 will close


• Wednesday and Thursday nights, westbound Bore #4 will close
