Mountain lion captured in dramatic standoff after roaming San Francisco's Outer Sunset neighborhood
SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- A mountain lion has been captured several hours after being spotted roaming San Francisco's Outer Sunset neighborhood Friday morning, officials confirm.
The animal was seen near Ulloa Street and 44th Avenue, which is not far from the ocean, around 7:30 a.m. and wildlife and animal control crews were dispatched.
The mountain lion was tranquilized by San Francisco Animal Care and Control after some tense moments during a standoff with the animal for several hours.
It was a dramatic scene as crews went to tranquilize the animal, it darted away. Residents and media were all pushed back as the animal briefly stopped at a corner and disappeared into an area of bushes, where another standoff began. About half an hour later, officials had tranquilized the mountain lion.

The whole situation had neighbors on edge as they were being told to stay in their homes.
"It was kind of crazy, we heard the police come out, they had all the bullhorns telling everybody, ' You need to disperse, get back in your homes,'" resident Shane Jordan said. "Within a few minutes we learned that it was a mountain lion running around the neighborhood and so obviously there was a lot of concern."
This is the second mountain lion sighting in San Francisco in two weeks. There were several reports of one perched in a tree in the Panhandle on Saturday, September 5. It's unclear if it's the same animal.
