Cupertino spa owners arrested for allegedly running 'secret brothel,' DA says
CUPERTINO, Calif. -- The married owners and an employee of a Cupertino day spa allegedly operated a busy brothel that raked in an estimated $700,000 per year, prosecutors said Thursday.
The Hummingbird Day Spa, operated since 2022 by Lin Wang, 46, and Xian Wang, 48, of San Jose, allegedly offered sexual services to approximately 30 male sex buyers daily, according to the Santa Clara County District Attorney's Office.
The couple, along with spa employee Rui Wang, 42, of Sunnyvale, were arraigned Thursday on charges that include pimping and pandering, money laundering, and tax and payroll fraud.
"There is no room in our neighborhoods for working brothels," District Attorney Jeff Rosen said. "There is no room in Santa Clara County for the criminal exploitation of human beings."

The investigation was headed by Human Trafficking Task Force Detective G. O'Sullivan and Investigator Corinne Abernathy and began in March 2026 after reports of illegal sexual activity from the community.
Prosecutors said evidence shows that the business had a high volume of men entering the establishment over a short period of time each day.
The Wangs are also accused of underreporting payroll by more than $100,000 per year. Profits were funneled through mortgage payments to properties in San Jose and Chino Hills, and through investments, according to the District Attorney's Office.
A forensic financial analysis showed that all three suspects were allegedly engaged in collecting, concealing, and integrating illicit funds to maintain the business, fund personal finances and mortgages, and have been involved in long-term pimping and pandering operations, money laundering, tax irregularities, and payroll fraud.
The suspects were arrested on Sept. 10. Two women who were at the brothel received support services from Community Solutions.
